How Data2Paper collects, uses, stores, and protects personal data

2026/03/18

Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to the Data2Paper website, account system, report-generation service, and related billing and support workflows. Data2Paper is a digital online service that lets users upload CSV, XLSX, or XLS files, provide a research topic, and receive asynchronously generated research reports.

By using the service, you understand how we process information as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

We collect information depending on how you use the service, including:

  • Account information such as your name, email address, login credentials, and basic profile information returned by Google or GitHub if you choose social login.
  • Content you submit such as uploaded files, research topics, output language selections, contact form messages, and other information you provide through the service.
  • Generated outputs and job records such as task status, timestamps, preview files, PDF, DOCX, TEX, ZIP deliverables, and system records related to report generation.
  • Payment and billing information such as Stripe customer IDs, checkout session IDs, subscription status, selected plans, invoice IDs, and payment results. Full card details are processed by Stripe and are not stored directly by us.
  • Device and usage information such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, access times, logs, and technical diagnostics used for security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.
  • Communications information such as support requests, newsletter subscription status, and service-related emails we send to you.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • create and maintain user accounts;
  • process file uploads, queue jobs, and generate reports;
  • provide previews, downloads, billing, credits, and subscription features;
  • process payments, reconcile transactions, review refund requests, and prevent fraud;
  • send important service notices such as account messages, payment updates, report completion notices, and support replies;
  • monitor reliability, debug failures, and prevent abuse or unauthorized access;
  • improve the product, user experience, and support operations; and
  • comply with applicable legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations.

Uploaded Data and Generated Content

Files you upload and research topics you provide are used to operate the report-generation service. During processing, this information may be temporarily stored, transformed, analyzed, and used to create previews and final downloadable report files.

You are responsible for ensuring that:

  • you have the right to upload and process the data;
  • you have any permissions or legal basis required under applicable law; and
  • you do not upload unlawful, infringing, malicious, or unauthorized content.

If your uploads contain personal data, sensitive data, or confidential information, you are responsible for determining whether you are authorized to submit that data to the service.

How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We may share necessary information with service providers that help us operate the service, including:

  • Payment providers such as Stripe for checkout, subscriptions, customer portal access, billing, and fraud controls.
  • Authentication providers such as Google, GitHub, or related authentication services for login and identity verification.
  • Email and notification providers for verification emails, billing notices, report completion emails, support replies, and newsletters.
  • Cloud storage and hosting providers for storing uploaded files, previews, generated outputs, and operational logs.
  • Support and security providers for handling user messages, fraud detection, incident review, and service reliability.

We share information only as needed to operate the service and expect those providers to protect information in line with their contractual and legal obligations.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep users signed in, remember language or interface preferences, improve security, and, when enabled, measure site usage or support customer service features. See our Cookie Policy for more detail.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service and satisfy the purposes described in this Policy, including:

  • account information during the life of the account and for a reasonable period afterward for compliance, audit, dispute resolution, and security;
  • uploaded files, generated outputs, and job records to provide history, previews, downloads, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention; and
  • payment and billing records for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.

Retention periods may vary by data type. If you request deletion of an account or data, we will process the request subject to applicable law, backup systems, unresolved transactions, dispute handling, and security needs.

Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls, credential management, separation of payment data handling, and limiting access to systems that need the data to operate.

No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security in every circumstance.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to:

  • access, correct, or update your account information;
  • request deletion of your account or related data;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • opt out of marketing emails; and
  • manage cookies through your browser settings.

To make a request, contact us at contact@datatopaper.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Children's Privacy

Data2Paper is intended for general business, research, and productivity use and is not directed to children. If you believe a minor provided personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us and we will address the issue as reasonably possible.

International Processing

Depending on where we or our providers operate infrastructure, your information may be processed or stored outside your country or region. By using the service, you understand that cross-border processing may occur.
